About Me

My photo
I have been creating doodles for over a decade but have only recently turned these into filling in large pictures with my designs . I use ball point pen to colour a composition with patterns and doodles - I love the texture and tone you can achieve, and I wouldn’t use anything else. I think my pictures are creative, quirky and stand out from the norm, but most of all I just love creating them! About my Art
I have been doing ‘doodles’ for over a decade, filling blank pages with designs and patterns. It started as a method of escapism but grew into an obsession!
My doodles were always done with black biro, and started by a mark in the middle of the page. I would then work out from the mark and see where the design took me, often in a completely different direction to the original idea.
I have only recently begun to take my designs & patterns and colour a composition with them – I will make the basic outline of the subject then fill it as I would have filled a doodle.
I still only use ballpoint but I have now amassed an array of colours. I think that tone, definition and movement can all be achieved with the medium and for the moment I wouldn’t work in anything else.
I have been lucky enough to be accepted to 5 exhibitions so far, I entered my first at Cartwright Hall 2 weeks after I had created my first picture, Sunflower Field.
My largest composition to date, Pond Life, achieved 9th place out of 120 exhibits at the Cottingley Arts & Crafts exhibition.
I have been privately commissioned to create works for people, tailoring the pictures to suit their specifications. The clients have been extremely happy with the work and all mentioned they would recommended me to others for similar projects.
I think my compositions are something different to the norm and, I feel, unique to me. I enjoy doing them and will continue to work as I do for as long as I am able.
